AI agent development · Sydney & Melbourne: AI agents built for production, not the demo

Rocket Lab designs and builds AI agents for Australian businesses: tested before release, with a person approving the steps that need judgement, running in your own cloud by default.

Illustration of an example agent run. A customer asks: Can I change my delivery to Friday? The agent looks up the order and finds it, drafts the change, and waits for the CX team to approve it. Once it is approved, the agent sends the reply. The run's tests passed and the run is logged.

AI agent development FAQs

What is an AI agent?

An AI agent is software that uses a language model to work towards a goal in steps. It reads a request, decides what to do, uses the tools and data it has been given (a CRM, a knowledge base, a booking system), and completes the task or hands it to a person. A chatbot answers questions; an agent also acts.

What is the difference between an AI agent and a chatbot?

A chatbot answers questions. An AI agent also acts: it uses tools such as a CRM or a booking system to complete a task, and hands over to a person when it should. A good first agent does one narrow job well.

How much does AI agent development cost?

We do not publish prices, because the cost depends on scope, the systems involved and what already exists. Model usage is billed to you directly.

Where does our data go, and can the agent run in our own cloud?

By default the agent runs in your own cloud account, under your access controls, and the code is yours. It reaches only the data it needs. Prompts go to the model you choose, through your cloud's AI service or the provider directly, so that choice is part of scoping. Your privacy or legal team should confirm which obligations apply.

How do you stop an agent from giving wrong answers or taking the wrong action?

We test it against cases you agree before every release, limit it to the data and actions it needs, send judgement steps to a person, and log every run so a wrong answer can be traced and fixed. No agent is right every time; the aim is to catch mistakes early.

Will an AI agent replace our staff?

That is not what we build them for. A good first agent takes a repetitive, well-bounded job off your team, and a person still approves the steps that need judgement.

Book a scoping call. We'll tell you which way in fits, or whether an agent is the right answer at all.
